Endurion – Ultra-tech 500
Ultra-tech 500, also known as Endurion is the ultimate in phosphate coatings. It is the most advanced coating of its type available to industry today. Not only does it resist salt spray exposure far longer than any other phosphate, it has other useful properties, which sets it apart from the rest.

With corrosion resistance of this magnitude, the Ultra-tech 500 is an ideal replacement for many types of electroplated finishes as well as baked organic coatings.
High Lubricity
Another useful property of Ultra-tech 500 is its lubricity. For use in the smooth break-in of wearing parts such as gears, cams and bearings, the Ultra-tech 500 is more than twice as effective as conventional manganese phosphate coatings. For threaded fasteners, the torque tension characteristics of the finish are very similar to cadmium, but without the adverse environmental effects.
Pleasing and Durable Finishes
The standard Ultra-tech 500 coating is a pleasing light gray color, but Haward can also dye to a jet-black finish. The natural or dyed finish become part of the steel surface and thus cannot chip or peel. The build up is a perfectly uniform .0002” - .0005” of thickness, far less than a single coat of paint.
Ultra-tech 500 also provides an excellent base for bonding rubber, solid film lubricants, paints, etc. The combination of Ultra-tech 500 and a single coat of paint will often out perform a phosphate, primer, and a baked topcoat. The Ultra-tech 500 coating will meet and exceed the salt spray requirements of Military Specification MIL-DTL-16232G Type Z and Type M, Classes 1, 2, 3 and 4.
